Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort is located in the Magic Kingdom resort area and sits on a piece of land right next to Disney's Contemporary Resort. Bay Lake Tower is connected to Disney's Contemporary Resort via a ground path and elevated walkway to make accessing Disney's Contemporary Resort monorail line convenient. The tower was built for Disney Vacation Club (DVC) members but even non-DVC members can book a room here.
This excellent location, sitting between Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon, is within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom. Of course, most guests will prefer taking the monorail instead. Bake Lake Tower also offers some incredible views of the nightly Magic Kingdom fireworks display.
Rooms
You'll have several options when choosing rooms at Disney's Bay Lake Tower. First up will be the room view which will be either a standard view, lake view, or the more expensive theme park view. You'll have to really ask yourself how much time you plan to be in your room to see how much this matters.
Next up will be room size. Studio units are available which are essentially like normal hotel rooms with small kitchenettes in them. Moving up on the size scale will be the far more expensive one and two bedroom villas which offer more space and full kitchens.
Pool & Recreation
When it's time to cool off and relax a bit, head to the Bay Cove Pool.
Take a ride on the 20 foot tall waterslide surrounded by glass blocks or just relax in the hot tub. Smaller kids will enjoy the splash pad area as well as the zero entry sloping pool entry. If you need a snack or beverage the Cove Bar can help you out.
You'll also find a marina which will help arrange for fishing and parasailing adventures or to simply let you rent one of their incredibly fun Water Mice (small, 1-2 person boats).
If you have gamers in your family then they'll love the huge arcade at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Tennis courts, jogging trails, and volleyball courts are also available for guest use.
Dining & Shopping
Dining at the actual Bay Lake Tower includes the poolside Cove Bar as well as the Top Of The World Lounge which offers some spectacular views.
A short walk over to the Contemporary Resort offers Bay Lake Tower guests quite a few more dining options. California Grill and Chef Mickey's are among the most popular here so if you'd like to try them you'll want to reserve in advance. For more casual dining try The Wave... Of American Flavors, Contempo Cafe, Contemporary Grounds, The Sand Bar. For lounges, your options are Cove Bar, Outer Rim, and The Wave Lounge.
On the shopping side the main shop is Bayview Gifts (at the Contemporary Tower) which offer a wide variety of clothing, candy, souvenirs, and Disney themed items.
Transportation
Disney's Contemporary Resort is conveniently located right on the Walt Disney World Monorail. It's the only resort here that actually has the monorail passing right through it's structure and as a Bay Lake Tower guest you can use the elevated walkway to Disney's Contemporary Resort to hop on the monorail.
While both of the monorail lines pass through the hotel, you can only get on and off of the resort monorail. The express line does not stop here. The resort line also stops at the Ticket And Transportation Center, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (which includes The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa), and the Magic Kingdom before coming back around to the Contemporary Resort.
So getting to the Magic Kingdom and back is incredibly easy though you can also walk to the Magic Kingdom via a relatively short walking path. If you're heading to Epcot you'll take the resort monorail to the Ticket And Transportation Center and change to the Epcot Monorail.
For all other places in The World, bus transportation is available.
