Disney's dining and shopping extravaganza.

The Downtown Disney District in the Disneyland Resort is essentially a strip of dining and shopping experiences but it's also the main corridor that connects everything on Disney property.

The Downtown Disney area is narrow, yet long. On the west side, it's gives you a walkway to the Disneyland Hotel and Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel. As you walk to the east, you'll pass Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and then walk to the entrance of Disneyland Park on the north side and Disney California Adventure Park on the south side.

It's sort of the glue that binds the entire resort together and one of the things that makes this California resort so unique. In a place like Walt Disney World in Florida, getting from any one place (be it a hotel, a park, or their Downtown Disney area) requires long times on transportation.

Here in Disneyland the scale of everything is far smaller which means getting around is so much easier because you can walk from any one point on the resort to any other. Sure, that's still a lot of walking in some cases but it's often better than waiting for a bus or boat.

If you're looking to shop then this is a great place for that. I really enjoy it because it's a way to get out of the parks and away from the crowds for a while, and often a good place to have a meal.
