Disney California Adventure Park, or just California Adventure, or even DCA as it's called, is part of the Disneyland Resort. This 72 acre park is all about the history and culture of the state of California, USA and opened on February 8, 2001.

In the early days the park didn't do so well. It seemed liked it lacked imagination and anything unique. It was as if Disney needed another park and just want to rides-r-us and purchased a bunch of generic rides to throw in. The park then went into years of improvements and additions until Disney announced an overhaul in 2007.

That overhaul led to the new Buena Vista Street (aka, California Adventure's Main Street U.S.A.) as well as new rides like the very well themed The Little Mermaid - Ariel's Undersea Adventure and even Cars Land which is an entirely new piece of land that was added to DCA. Those improvements certainly did the trick as crowds flocked to see the new attractions with Cars Land being a massive attendance booster.

The layout of the park mostly goes along the classic hub-and-spoke design of parks like Disneyland Park so getting around is pretty easy. Each spoke in the hub takes you to a different "land" and each of these lands has its own theme and set of rides, attractions, restaurants, and atmosphere.
