Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! was formerly called The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. So if you have ever been on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror then you'll like Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! because it's the exact same ride system.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! is easily one of the best thrill rides ever made, though the new theming and story is odd (especially if you're not a fan of the movies). This ride was built to be a spooky Twilight Zone themed hotel so the Guardian theme looks ridiculously out of place here. Why Disney feels the need to spend millions of dollars to update what was already one of their most popular and best rides is beyond me. Focus on new rides and fixing up the really bad ones (I'm looking at you Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters).
But forget the stupid Guardians of the Galaxy overlay on the ride, it's still tons of fun. Even if the California version isn't as good, or long, as the Disney World version in Florida, it's still an amazing ride and experience.
Once you get on the ride vehicle, which is an elevator, you'll be taken up several floors and stopping along the way to get more details on the story. It's all about the suspense that builds up to what you know is coming, and that's the big fall. The free fall is more than that, it's actually pushing you down so you fall faster than you would in a free fall.
The best part is that you get more than once fall and the right will shoot you back up and drop you down a few times before it's all over. If you get sick easily this isn't for you. Kids, even if they are tall enough, may really hate this ride. It's dark, loud, and scary. For those that don't hate it, they'll love it.
