The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is easily one of the best thrill rides ever made and this one is the original that does things other versions don't (I'm looking at your Disneyland!).
The theming right from the start of the queue is excellent and that level of detail is found throughout the entire ride. You'll work your way through the line and into a pre-show room where you'll watch a short Twilight Zone episode that sets up the rest of the ride for you.
Once you get on the ride vehicle, which is an elevator, you'll be taken up several floors and stopping along the way to get more details on the story. The entire time you know you're going to be dropped, you just don't know when, and that suspense is all part of the fun.
On one of the floors the elevator will actually roll forward out of the elevator shaft you were in, giving you more bits of the story and filling up the suspense meter a bit more. You'll then roll into another elevator shaft and this is where you'll drop.
Of course, you'll shake up and down a bit before it happens so you really never know exactly when it will happen. The free fall is more than that, it's actually pushing you down so you fall faster than you would in a free fall.
The best part is that you get more than one fall as you will shoot back up and drop down a few times before it's all over. If you get sick easily this isn't for you. Kids, even if they are tall enough, may really hate this ride. It's dark, loud, and scary. For those that don't hate it, they'll love it. If there is any chance you can handle this ride, it's a do-not-miss attraction.
On the way out you'll be able to purchase ride photos at Tower Photo and various gifts and souvenirs at Tower Hotel Gifts.
