Splash Mountain was an instant hit the day it opened and has been hugely popular ever since. It's a Disney classic in the making and one of those rides that has the perfect combination of fun, theming, story, and overall execution.
The story is based on the 1946 Disney classic Song of the South, but I'd be willing to bet that 99% of the people riding this have no idea what that movie even is.
You'll hop into a large log that will acts as your boat and travel inside and outside of the huge mountain and briar patch. You'll follow along as Br'er Rabbit goes on an adventure to find his Laughing Place while trying to avoid being eaten by Br'er Bear and Br'er Fox.
You'll see a lot of dancing and singing characters along the way, enjoy three fun dips, and one really large, five story drop. You will get wet on the big drop. Sit in the front and you may get a good soaking. Sit in the back and it may be more of small splash. Regardless, don't be the weenie in the poncho. Buck up and take your medicine, soldier!
Plan to be singing Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, either in your head or aloud, for weeks to come.
