Matt Anderson's Take
The Haunted Mansion opened in 1969 with 999 ghosts but always seems to have room for one more, any takers? This is Disney magic at its finest. It's a dark ride with a ghostly theme but it's all done in good fun. Younger children may get spooked in certain parts (stretching room, graveyard scene, etc) but the mood isn't too dark overall.

You'll start by entering the stretching room which has no windows and no doors and offers you this chilling challenge: to find a way out....muahahahaha. Or so goes the disembodied voice who then reveals their way out. Little ones tend to get a little freaked out here but it's over fast. Interesting fact: In the Disneyland version the stretching room is dropping while the ceiling stays in place so it's an elevator. In Disney World the floor doesn't move but the ceiling rises.

You'll then step into your Doom Buggy and take a (roughly) seven minute tour of the mansion and graveyard while hoping to avoid hitchhiking ghosts on the way out.

Around Christmas time the Haunted Mansion gets a Nightmare Before Christmas makeover.

Another favorite and probably ties for best ride in the park with Thunder Mountain and Pirates. Can't be beat.

My favorite time to ride this ride is after Halloween. For Christmas time Disney changes the entire ride to Jack skeleton it is so cool looking. Little ones might be a little bit afraid on this one, but it's not that scary. If you go before Halloween you're still going to enjoy the fun of this dark ride. Three people can ride together in one of the carts which are pretty cool too if you're going with an odd number in your party.

A classic. Not to be missed. Disneyland nailed it on this one. Not too scary, but a charming and enchanting take on spooks. Be sure to read the gravestones while waiting in line. I won't ruin it for you, but they are pretty funny.

The attraction has a little bit of walking, but most of it is on a small car that takes you on the journey. As a photographer, it's nearly impossible to get a decent exposure unless you have a super fast lens. Just a ton of fun and a legendary staple attraction of Disneyland.
