The Haunted Mansion opened in 1969 with 999 ghosts but always seems to have room for one more, any takers? This is Disney magic at its finest. It's a dark ride with a ghostly theme but it's all done in good fun. Younger children may get spooked in certain parts (stretching room, graveyard scene, etc) but the mood isn't too dark overall.
You'll start by entering the stretching room which has no windows and no doors and offers you this chilling challenge: to find a way out....muahahahaha. Or so goes the disembodied voice who then reveals their way out. Little ones tend to get a little freaked out here but it's over fast. Interesting fact: In the Disneyland version the stretching room is dropping while the ceiling stays in place so it's an elevator. In Disney World the floor doesn't move but the ceiling rises.
You'll then step into your Doom Buggy and take a (roughly) seven minute tour of the mansion and graveyard while hoping to avoid hitchhiking ghosts on the way out.
Around Christmas time the Haunted Mansion gets a Nightmare Before Christmas makeover.
