The Autopia is insanely popular with "kids" of all ages, hence the Fastpass option this ride has. It's not what you'd call thrilling, not even close. It's not even remotely speedy, has no sudden turns or dips, and is sort of boring.

But none of that matters because it's one of those classic Disney rides that just makes you feel like a kid again. If you rode this as a child it is certain to bring back fond memories. It opened with the park back in 1955, has been entertaining guests ever since, and proves that not all rides have to be E Ticket thrillers to be fun.

The cars can hold two people and run on one of four lanes of traffic. Each lane has a guide bar to keep you from leaving the track but gives you a foot or two of movement within your lane to play around. It's a great place for kids to learn the basics of steering a car while an adult works the gas pedal. Take your foot off the gas and the brake is applied automatically. Sadly, there is no bumping allowed here.

This ride opened before President Eisenhower signed the legislation to create the Interstate Highway System we have in the USA today. The irony is that when you see the lines of traffic, of people waiting to get on and off this "highway", you'll instantly be reminded of gridlock on the real highways of the world. Talk about foreseeing our future.

The only issues with this ride is the amount of exhaust fumes that you smell while waiting in line to get in or out of your car. The Cast Members on this attraction should get hazard pay.
