Matt Anderson's Take
Want an easy way to turn your smartphone into a laboratory full of sensors? Try the new Science Journal app from Google. Install the free app from the Google Play Store and you'll be able to measure all sorts of things.

Science Journal is essentially a data logger that can measure and record light levels, sounds levels, along with individual movements from X, Y, and Z planes using the accelerometer in your phone. The app is a great way to get kids involved in and excited about science. Google even offers up
some easy-to-try experiments you can try with the Science Journal app.

The app records the results as you go, allows you to you organize your ideas into projects, and has areas to take notes. It may be the perfect thing for your child's next science fair project!
