Located is located south of Wilder Ranch State Park Beach, Four Mile is located 4 miles south of Santa Cruz on Highway 1. You'll see a cluster of cars in a dirt parking area. It's popular with local surfers and attracts a few nude sunbathers as well. Typical with many nude beaches, it's located far off the main road about a half mile west to the beach. The hike is pleasant enough as it crosses through local farmland and a beside a beautiful marsh. When you cross the railroad tracks, you're almost there. The nudies usually turn out on the weekends, and are usually "hanging out" on the south side of the beach.
The beach area itself is wide, with picturesque cliffs on the sides. There is an overview on top of the bluff where you can take good photos of the surfers. There are porta-potties here, which is a really good thing since of the beach is so remote.
For surfers, the beach here is right reef break that produces great surf when conditions are good. Winter mostly produces mushy choppy waves that are blown out.
