In the United States, taller men are perceived as more competent at their jobs, more deserving of higher social status, and even more attractive to potential partners. When it comes to speed dating, job interviews, or other situations dependent on a good first impression, shorter men often suffer a distinct disadvantage and often become accustomed to being passed over for taller peers.
Fortunately, cosmetic fixes for one's physical shortcomings are not limited to women. Women have the option of wearing high heels to give an impression of greater height and longer legs. Men also have the option of “high heels”, but not the high heels of 18th century France when such footwear was considered masculine as well as stylish. Men today have a very plausible 21st century option: elevator shoes, also known as height increasing shoes.
However, no modern height-challenge man who would like help in this area needs to fear the requirement of dressing like an 18th century French aristocrat. Elevator shoes can give you the same lift as past nobility without the outward appearance of wearing heels. This modern equivalent of male high heels increase height with an inner sole built into the interior of the shoe. It does not look much different from an insole except that it lines and fills in the whole shoe, thus raising your foot higher and making you appear taller. This special mold, called a “height increasing innermold” by the Richlee Shoe Company, allows any man to appear taller without any noticeable modifications.
Richlee Shoe Company started producing in 1938. Its catalogue includes athletic shoes, dress shoes, and casual shoes in all varieties of modern style. Their stock even includes very normal looking sandals. The products they offer will increase height by two to three inches and the prices range from around $75 for casual shoes to around $99 for dress shoes. You can find good deals in their clearance section as well. Richlee maintains a store front in Frederick, Maryland in addition to its very comprehensive website.
A company in New York, called Increasing Shoes, helps men appear taller up to five and half inches. Their stock includes a variety of styles that appear to target younger more independent-fashioned men. While Richlee focuses on more classic styles, Increasing Shoes is more on the trendy side. Their prices start around $60 and go as high as $150 for dress styles and their more modern styles.
You can also find various types of lifting shoes and insoles at Amazon.com (affiliate link) which are often very inexpensive and may work for most men.
Depending on your personal style preference, and how much of a height increase you feel you need, there are many options out there to grow taller even long after puberty has ended. It does not appear you would pay any more money for these shoes than you would pay for a well-made pair of regular non-increasing shoes. However, it can also be said that you cannot put a price on confidence and the good that results from having it.
