Sometimes called ACV or cider vinegar, apple cider vinegar is a popular form of vinegar that is found in homes around the world for many different uses. How is Apple Cider Vinegar Made?

The basic process of making ACV is simple enough. It is created by crushing apples and removing the liquid. Yeast and bacteria are added to the liquid which then starts the process of fermentation. During this process the sugars in the liquid are turned into alcohol. However, a second fermentation process starts which converts the alcohol into vinegar through the introduction of bacteria which are acetic acid-forming. It is the combination of the acetic and malic acids that give the vinegar a sour taste and indicate that the process has been completed.

The Health Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

There are some studies which have shown that regular consumption of ACV will help lower the sugar levels in the blood. This is good news for those suffering from Type 2 Diabetes, but it can also help in lowering the chances of gaining unnecessary weight after eating. By keeping the blood sugar levels down, the body will absorb less carbohydrates and sugars which often get turned into fat.
