How to make perfectly popped popcorn every time.
Features
Most people today think that the nasty popcorn that comes from a bag in your microwave is the only way to make popcorn. But there is a much better way that is healthier, cheaper, and that makes better tasting popcorn. Learn how to pop your own popcorn on a stove just like grandma and grandpa used to make it and you'll never go back to microwave popcorn again.
What You'll Need
- A 3 quart or larger pan or pot with lid
- 3 tablespoons of coconut oil (or canola oil, peanut oil, or other cooking oil)
- 1/2 cup of quality popcorn kernels
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- Salt
- Large bowl
Step 1
Put the oil into your pan and place 3 popcorn kernels in the oil. Cover the pan and turn the heat to medium-high. Those 3 kernels are there to tell you when the oil gets hot enough to put the rest of the kernels in so stay close!
Step 2
As soon as you hear any of those 3 kernels pop it's time to open the lid and (carefully) dump the remaining popcorn kernels into the oil. As soon as you do that, give the pan a gentle shake so all of the kernels spread out evenly. Put the lid back on but leave it on a slight angle so steam can escape.
Step 3
The corn should be popping away now so stay close and keep an ear on it. As soon as the time between pops is more than 2-3 seconds turn off the heat and dump the popcorn into a large bowl. The popcorn is done so melt some butter (microwave works well) and salt to taste.
