Beth Anderson's Take
This is without a doubt our favorite recipe for spaghetti sauce. This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled to make lots of extra sauce to freeze.

Ingredients


2lbs lean ground beef
½ white onion chopped
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 - 28oz can crushed tomatoes
2 - 6oz cans tomato paste
6 cloves garlic chopped
1 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp dry oregano
2 tsp dry basil
½ tsp salt or to taste
¼ tsp pepper or to taste

Step 1

In large Dutch oven sauté onion in olive oil till translucent, remove from pan.

Step 2

Add ground beef and brown, breaking up clumps with spoon. Remove excess fat by placing in a colander and running under hot water, return meat & onions to pot.

Step 3
Add tomatoes, tomato paste and 5 tomato paste cans of water and seasoning. Stir to blend ingredients. Simmer slowly, uncovered for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
