For most, the Magic Kingdom Ferry Boat isn't a ride or an attraction but simple transportation to get from the Ticket And Transportation Center to the Magic Kingdom. For others, a trip on the Ferry Boat is a must.
Since this is the largest of the water transportation options to the Magic Kingdom, it's anything but speedy. On the other hand, it holds a lot of people (600 guests, 3 crew members) so if the monorail is packed full of people this may be a good option. Keep that in mind when you leave the park at night and watch the monorail and small boat lines fill up quickly. If you're staying at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort then this becomes even more valuable to you since you can walk from the Ticket And Transportation Center to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and back.
As for that lack of speedy-ness that I mentioned, that's not always a bad thing. While it's not the transportation of choice when you want to get to the park quickly in the morning or are otherwise late for a dining reservation, sometimes it's nice to slow down a bit and catch your breath. The ride offers breathtaking views of Bay Lake and the Magic Kingdom Resort hotels as well as the Magic Kingdom itself as you approach it.
The Ferry Boats generally begin operating 30 minutes before the park opens (including Extra Magic Hour days) and the last Ferry Boat leaves the Magic Kingdom 1.5 hours after the park closes (again, including Extra Magic Hours).
