T-REX is a great concept and if you've eaten at Rainforest Cafe at Disney's Animal Kingdom before then you'll be familiar with what this type of restaurant is. The idea is to take massively theme a restaurant, in this case with animatronic dinosaurs that come to life, and what better place for that than at Disney Springs?

While the concept works well and the theming is good, it's not great and feels like it belongs somewhere other than a Disney park. All of the theming just falls a bit short of what I expect from Disney. Of course, this is normal because this restaurants isn't designed by or run by Disney (and is actually run by the folks who own the Rainforest Cafe restaurants).

It's still fun to see the dinosaurs come to life (every 20 minutes or so) and watch the lights flash in the simulated meteor shower. You're encouraged to get up and walk around and see the different dinosaurs do their thing and explore the different room themes. It's fun and kids will enjoy it.

So what's the problem here? A few things. To start, reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance which means it's hugely popular and I dislike having to think about where I will eat 6 months before I take a trip! The service we had here was very, very slow and just all around not very good. It's also really loud inside, annoyingly so.

As for the food, it took forever to come out and wasn't anything special. There are plenty of choices to pick from with a variety of sandwiches, pastas, burgers, and more but everything I've had here was just average. I'd eat it again if it was in front of me, it certainly wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything special. Based on that, it made the prices feel higher than it should be.

Near the entrance is a gift shop. A gift shop for a restaurant. Think about that for a minute. They've just taken the Disney model of putting a gift shop at a ride exit too far. It's brilliant on their part, you can just watch as hungry kids melt down in line to get in head over to the toys and throw tantrums until their parents buy them something to calm them down. But it's still annoying.

With all of this in mind I just cannot recommend you dine here. There are so many restaurants to choose from in The World and even here in Disney Springs that you can do better elsewhere. It's not worth fighting the crowds and reserving 6 months in advance, your kids won't miss it either.
